Brand Pathogen

Stage 1

Founder Signal Sprint

The Founder Signal Sprint is a 1-week diagnostic that validates whether your brand idea has narrative signal before you spend on architecture. We assess your concept against the EDC signal criteria — emotional resonance, character potential, and category fit — and deliver a clear recommendation on whether to proceed, pivot, or deepen.

What This Sprint Produces

  • Signal Diagnostic Report: A 15-page assessment of whether your brand concept has the emotional and structural properties that make EDC work. Includes signal strength score, category positioning, and competitive narrative analysis.
  • Character-Archetype Indication: An initial mapping of the protagonist character archetype that fits your brand and category. This is not full character design — it is the signal that a character class exists and can be developed.
  • Category-Fit Assessment: An evaluation of whether your category is structurally open to identity-based competition. Some categories (commodity bulk, B2B software) are not. The assessment tells you the truth before you invest.
  • Recommended Next Stage: A clear recommendation: proceed to Architecture Sprint, pivot the concept, or deepen the origin story before architecture. No ambiguity. No open-ended advice.

What This Sprint Does Not Produce

This sprint is a diagnostic, not a build. It does not produce visual identity, character design, content assets, or a launch plan. The deliverable is a report with a recommendation. If the recommendation is to proceed, the next step is the Architecture Sprint. If the recommendation is to pivot, you have saved the cost of building architecture for the wrong idea.

The Signal Sprint also does not produce a business plan or financial model. We assess narrative and character signal, not unit economics. The assumption is that you have a product or product idea and are evaluating whether it has the identity properties to compete as an EDC brand.

Who Should Book This Sprint

Book this sprint if you have a product or product idea and are considering whether to invest in brand architecture. You may have a name, a logo, and a website, or you may have nothing but the idea. The sprint works at either stage. What matters is that you have a concept and want to know whether it has the emotional and structural properties that make EDC work.

Do not book this sprint if you are looking for a full brand build, a visual identity package, or a marketing campaign. Those are later stages. The Signal Sprint is the stage that prevents you from building the wrong thing. It is the cheapest insurance in the entire architecture.
